Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Primer

Related: Create Your Beginner Makeup Kit

Melanie Mills Body Gleam Radiance Rose Gold

This isn’t actually a product that’s made to be a primer but I find that it does an excellent job of blurring my imperfections so if you’re looking for a new primer I recommend picking up this one.

For those of you who have seen any of my other tutorials then you already know that I love this Melanie Mills Body Gleam Radiance because it fills in my pores and creates a great base for the rest of my makeup.

I also love wearing this product by itself because it makes me sparkles and I do love to sparkle (:

I love the rose gold color but they have a lot of other different shades if this one is too dark for you so definitely check out this product if you’re interested.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Foundation

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Shade 340 Cappuccino

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying, Maybelline has the best drugstore foundation that I have ever tried, fight me.

It just looks so good on the skin and they have different finishes.

Personally I love the dewy because I have dry skin but they also have a matte and poreless version.

So if you haven’t tried out this foundation yet then I’m here to tell you that you’re definitely missing out.

This is one of the few foundations that I can use and I don’t have to mix two shades together to get my perfect shade.

They also have a powder version of this foundation so if you have oily skin and you don’t want to try the liquid version then you have options (: I’ve used the powder version as well and it works great too!

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Concealer

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer Shade 25 Medium Light

So you already know that I love the foundation so it only makes sense that I would also love the concealer right? Of course!

The concealer is a little thinner than I would usually go for in an everyday concealer but it works pretty well.

The only thing is that they don’t have as much of a shade range in the concealers as they do for the actual foundation which makes sense but it’s still a little annoying sometimes.

But it blends really well and it’s a staple in my makeup collections.

Something I’ll do every now and them is add my concealer to a little bit of my foundation, this gives it a thicker consistency and gives it a color that’s closer to my skin tone.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Setting Powder

NYX High Definition Setting Powder

I’m going to be honest, I only bought this powder because I was traveling and I needed something right then and this was the first one I saw.

I mean it works okay for a powder but it does make my skin feel a little dry and I notice that I do have to reapply throughout the day on my T-zone but if you just need something quick then this powder will do.

Currently I’m loving the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder and that’s definitely my go to powder now.

It’s a little bit on the expensive side but it will last for a pretty long time since I don’t have to reapply throughout the day like I do with the NYX setting powder.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Makeup Brushes

Morphe Eye Collections Brush Set

Morphe is probably one of the best known retailers of makeup brushes. Pretty much every YouTuber is an affiliate for them and honestly their brushes are pretty decent.

This collection was decently priced and it came with 8 eyeshadow brushes which at this point was all I needed.

I ended up buying the Jaclyn Hill Master Collection Brush Set which is amazing an I really love it.

That set is a lot more expensive so I wouldn’t recommend dropping almost $300 right out the gate for it but it’s definitely a nice investment.

Remember you do not need an entire makeup brush set to create beautiful makeup looks!

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Eyeshadow Palette

The Jaclyn Hill Palette

I absolutely love this palette. There are so many different options when it comes to color and the transition shades are really varied so it’s basically a one and done palette.

There are so many different looks you can use this one palette for so if you’re a beginner and you’re looking to get a nice high end palette then I would definitely recommend checking this one out.

Jaclyn Hill also released the Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection which I also purchased and also loved but that one had mixed reviews so if you want to play it safe then just stick to this one

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Mascara

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Again if you have seen any of my previous makeup tutorials then you have seen my use this product because it is literally the only mascara that I use because it’s that good!

This mascara is the OG and it is my ride or die.

To be fair I do apply quite a few coats of this mascara but I have noticed that this mascara doesn’t clump up or make my lashes look like spider legs so I will always have this mascara in my makeup kit and I recommend you try it if you haven’t already.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Contour and Bronzer

Prolux Contour Palette

I’m going to be honest with y’all, this is the only contour palette I own. Mainly because I really don’t feel like you need more than one unless there’s specific colors that you need but that’s not the case for me.

I’ve had this same palette for about a year now and it’s still going strong even though I’ve definitely hit pan.

I’ll probably have to buy a new one but I really do like this palette and it has worked well for me so I recommend it if you’re looking for a new one to try.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Highlight

Jeffree Star Liquid Frost Highlighter in Ice Queen and Prolux Contour Palette

Listen, I love Jeffree Star, I think his products are A1 but this product confuses the heck out of me.

I just can’t seem to figure out how to work it so that it blends nicely and don’t just deposit a whole bunch of sparkle on one area of my face.

Other than that I think it’s a gorgeous product and the finish is really nice I just need to figure out exactly how I’m supposed to blend it.

Once I figure that out I’m sure I’ll be in business.

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Eyebrows

Life’s a Drag Eyeshadow Palette in Shade Mug

This was the first high end palette that I ever bought so it holds a special place in my heart and you can read my review on it here if you haven’t tried it and you want to see if it’s worth it.

I like to use the dark brown shade in this palette to fill in my eyebrows because I really don’t like spending much time on them.

But I am working on a brand new brow routine so once I figure that out I’ll show you all my new routine!

Red and Green Makeup Tutorial: Lips

NYX Liquid Suede Crème Lipstick in Shade Stone Fox

Now I don’t know what’s going on at the NYX headquarters but they are KILLING IT with these liquid lipsticks, they’re so good!

I have a few of them and I have yet to try one that I didn’t like but this one is one of my favorites mostly because the color is so interesting.

They also have a lip gloss line, I haven’t tried that yet but if I ever do you will be the first to know.

I love a nice matte lip and these don’t make my lips feel super dry like other liquid lipsticks do.
